When is a resin or dental inlay necessary?

When the destruction or caries alone covers the masticatory surface, resin will almost always be the material to be used (requiring only one appointment).
When the destruction is of two or more surfaces, an inlay must be made, also called an Onlay or Inlay and this is done in two appointments. In the initial appointment, records or digital molds are taken for cad cam preparation and on the second visit tested and cemented permanently.
